3sat ZDF 2016
The 3sat studio designs explore the connection between brand identity and space. They define a design strategy that unites three different cultural and scientific tv magazines under the umbrella brand of the broadcast channel 3sat/ZDF. All three set designs are based on the shows logos and graphic designs and enable a seamless cross-fade from the on-air design to the opening shot of the show. The four elements of the cultural news magazine `Kulturzeit´ logo and the red circle of the science program `nano´ logo are transformed into spatial elements. The setdesign for the talkshow `scobel´ is derived from the shows keyvisual, the Nautilus shell.
The alignment of the triangular elements with the illuminated lamellas generate the visual illusion of the `Kulturzeit´ logo from the first view shot. The tracking shot dissolves the visual illusion and unfolds the spatial composition of the set: The initially hidden element with the back projection screen aligns with the geometry of the lamellas. The composed perspective creates visual depth and offers a variety of distinct camera shots. The illuminated horizon in the background enables colour combinations with the lamellas, to provide changing atmospheres and to match with the content.
