Jewish Museum Berlin
The `prize for understanding and tolerance´ from the Jewish Museum Berlin honors a person that stands out for supporting integration of diverse cultures into our society. The ceremony takes place each year in the courtyard of the museums historical building, that was transformed into a multifunctional hall by Daniel Libeskind. The stagedesign is an expression for the process of integration. 122 triangles out of foil mirror are suspended in various angles and formations to create a collage and a reflection of the ceremony´s guests and of old and new architecture. The composition of triangles refers to Libeskinds glass roof and it´s dissected columns, their directions relate to the walls of the old building and the dinner tables. In this way the stage creates a vibrant unity of the guests, the light and space around them. It changes it´s appearance from every point of view by reflecting different colours of the interior. The partially distorted reflections create distinct graphic structures that appear as animated paintings.
